                                           HAPPY CANADA DAY EH?!!!!

I thought this blog would be appropriate for Canada Day. I realize our colors are red and white but I feel green represents this wide, wild, natural country too. The green for me represents all of our vast beautiful nature and all that is good for you. I hope you enjoy my green blog. Have a great day!!

(I’m being rushed to get out the door to enjoy Canada Day Celebrations so if there are errors I will clean it up tonight…enjoy!)

After all my acupuncture appointments I felt once again ready to decrease my meds and made an appointment with my Western Doctor to ask about lessening the evening dose of 100mg of Codeine down to 50mgs of Codeine. Then I would be on 100mgs in the morning and 50mgs at night. Most times when 4pm came around I would know without looking at the clock that it was time for my next dosage but for at least a few weeks during the acupuncture appointments I completely forgot about it and sometimes I was 8pm before I realized I hadn’t taken my evening dosage. This was a good sign.

Once again my family doctor was concerned but we both said well, if it needs to go back up, at least we tried, and it would appease my mind instead of constantly wondering if I could or not. I had almost 2 weeks left on my old prescription so my new prescription would go on file and in 2 weeks I would give it a try. Which gave me lots of time to get the liver cleanse done and any adjustments my body would need before the change in medication. I felt excited and nervous all at once but it was a good nervous. I sooooo desperately wanted this to work.

A few times throughout my travels to the grocery store I had seen the produce department had started making cold pressed juices. I am a fan of eating my juices in stead of drinking them, (eat the actual fruit instead you get the goodness of its fiber as well and no added sugar), but, I had noticed they were making a kale juice. Now cold pressed juices are a better option if you have your own juicer as well but I do not. So several times I picked up the kale juice and then laid it back down afraid for my taste buds…lol. But for some reason on this day I picked it up and could feel my body responding …”Damn it Woman just Drink the Green Juice!!!” So my angel side started to argue with my devil side with, “but you drink the green monster smoothie and you were trying to get off the dairy so this is a great opportunity to give it a try”, then the devil side was, “yeah but its green”!!! Since this was his only arguement, I went home unscrewed the cap and poured it into the glass…then looked at it, he was right… it was green. As my taste buds fought my hand from extending, and temper-tantrumed the whole time shouting, “don’t do it, don’t do it,” my body over powered my taste buds and…… awwwwwwwwww the angels sang.

Holy crap this tastes good… lmao!!!

I liked it and it tasted yummy! Unfortunately though my grocer only made it every now and again and it was hit or miss if whether they were instock by the time I got there. So once again I thought hmm I’m a pretty resourceful, determined girl, I will find a solution and do it myself. So I purchase my baby kale/baby spinach mixture, my pineapple and oranges and back to the blender I went. I have been contemplating giving up the dairy and soy actually, and this might be a way to do it, seeing I also found the world of Kefir. Oh my there is way too much to tell you!! I should have brought up the Kefir before. That was another one that was a bit controversial with my tastebuds but came out positive again. OK, I’ll get back to Kefir, first lets finish with my green juice, then I’ll fit in Kefir and get back to the Liver cleanse. These three are very important…Kefir, Kale Juice and the Liver Cleanse.

Okay so I unlocked my trusty steed from its motorized corral… twisted my blender off from its base, and proceeded to put in my ingredients. Get a pen or screen shot this page…ready?

(I’m not really precise but just kinda wing it if you’re replicating this)

I have a Ninja blender, which I love, (but partly because the one I had before was a black and decker so to me my Ninja is the Ultimate Warrior!)

So I take about 3 handfuls of baby spinach/baby kale mixture and stuff it in the blender, then I add about a third of a pineapple (the insides with no husk, thought I best mention that just in case we are not all Chef Boyardee’s in the kitchen…no shame in it).

And I take the rind off two oranges and cut them into four pieces each then toss them in the blender.

I take my trusty tablespoon and squat it all in there.

Then I fill to the fill line with spring water, make sure my lid is well secured, and place my trusty steed back upon its corral and press the kill button… Pulse

I pulsate the mixture for about 50 seconds then turn it off and lift the lid to let the pressure out, then put the lid back on and pulsate for another 50 seconds or until I feel it is all mulched up.

I then take the jug and all (unhook the little spout thingy to let the pressure out again) and place it in the fridge for an hour or until I remember, crap I forgot to drain my kale juice!!!

Then if you have a colander that has tiny, tiny, holes…mine is mesh…then drain your kale juice through the colander into a nice tall bowl to collect the juice. I then stir around the pulp that is left in the colander, getting out all the juice.

Then pour the juice into a jug with a lid and return it to the fridge. I also usually then fill up a glass with my kale juice and pop in a couple pieces of pineapple for decoration. YUMMY!!!! It tastes very clean and more like pineapple juice, but not as sugary. The best part is, I use the Kale pulp then as an applesauce in the morning with my oatmeal. Win!! Win!!

I really love this juice and I truly feel like Popeye after I drink it. Sometimes I water it down a little for a refreshing vitamin based water drink and other times I drink it straight. She’s a wild one!!

Oh I forgot to tell you why I let it sit in the fridge, duhhh…. When you let it sit in the fridge before draining it, the juice will fall to the bottom of the blender jug then the pulp will rise to the top and on the very top is a bit of froth I usually spoon that off first before I drain the juice.

I think this blog may have gotten out of hand again but this is definitely a juice from the KALE GODS!!!! Worth its weight in gold!

OK, next blog I will quickly do a flash back to the Kefir, then continue on with the Liver Cleanse…this was life changing and I’m actually getting ready for my second liver cleanse since the first one went sooo well. Ok Gotta Go…Be back soon.

                                           Happy Canada Day!!! Play Safe!!!
