Liver Cleanse…Part Two

Natural Peacefulness
A Natural Calm

Day 6 of the Liver Cleanse this is where I began to get excited and nervous all at once. On day 6 when you wake, you should have a gentle bowel movement from the laxative from the night before to clean out the colon, before the cleanse begins. Then have a slight breakfast, once again no meat, and only take whatever medication is necessary so that the liver is not already busy trying to filter out supplements and medications, freeing it up for the cleanse. Then you will need to drink all of the apple juice in the morning…1L during the hours from 9-11:30am should be sufficient. Then a slight lunch, and by 1:30pm there will be no more eating for the day or the following morning, but you will not be hungry. The rest of the time you can drink water though as much as you can to remain hydrated because you will lose a lot of water when you start to use the bathroom.

The remainder of the cleanse must be followed completely as described or you could have difficulty passing the stones or crystals.

By 2pm you can make up your magnesium citrate solution and spring water…not tap water…spring water. In a jar, mix up 4 tablespoons of magnesium citrate (can be a little over a tablespoon but definitely not under a full tablespoon), into 3 cups of spring water. Give a good shake and then untwist the top to let out the pressure, then place the jar in the fridge, to be nice and cold for when you have to take a ¾ cup full, 4 separate times throughout the cleanse.

(I changed to magnesium citrate because it is much gentler on your body and is a natural mineral to take for magnesium deficiencies and as a laxative as well. Most cleanses use magnesium sulfate, food grade, not the one you use in the bathtub, but I was very concerned about using the Epsom salt, magnesium sulfate food grade, just because a lot of feed back was that it was harder to take and was not as gentle on the system.)

6pm I took my first ¾ cup dose of the magnesium citrate and spring water. It tastes very citrusy and almost like it has a lot of Splenda in it, but it doesn’t, it just tastes like that. You can add a few drops of freshly squeezed lemon juice into the mixture if it helps you to get it down. I thought by taking such a heavy dose, the ¾ cup of magnesium/spring water mixture, that I’d end up going to the washroom almost immediately, but because I did the laxative the night before, I was already prepared and really didn’t have much washroom issues the night of day 6, this was a relief.

8pm I took my second dose of the ¾ cup magnesium and citrate/spring water solution, and again, because I had prepared myself before hand, I didn’t have any bathroom mishaps just a regular movement. HAPPY GIRL!!

NOTE

As well at 8pm, make sure you are done with any chores for the night by 10pm. You will want to be completely ready to go to bed after you drink the oil cleansing mixture. There is noooooo getting out of bed after you drink the mixture till the next morning. So if you need someone there for young children or pets, make sure you have someone home with you to take care of your duties as well. It is a good idea anyway to have someone with you when you do cleanses, incase you feel to tired they can get you little things you will need, and for the morning doze of the magnesium citrate again, don’t forget you still have 2 more doses, so it would be best if you had someone who could get them from the fridge for you.

If you did not prepare the night before with a laxative, and have not had a bowel movement by now, 8:00pm-9:00pm, you will want to try a distilled warm water enema to induce a few bowel movements before the next phase which is the cleanse portion.

The Magnesium Citrate will help as a laxative, but it also helps to relax the passages throughout your digestive system making it easier for the body and the cleanse to purge your gallbladder and liver of any stones and crystals without pain, opening the vessels and ducts so the unwanted material can pass through without harm.

9:45pm It was time to start making my cleanse formula. This is also where I substituted a few ingredients after careful research.

You will need another jar without a metal lid

Squeeze 1/2 cup of fresh pink grapefruit juice

Squeeze ¼ cup of fresh lemon juice

Then

Add ½ cup of grape seed oil…

(The cleanse originally called for virgin olive oil, which would be better, but Olive oil and me don’t mix. It usually induces a gallbladder attack for me, so I used grape seed oil, which worked very well. I later found out that olive oil reacts different in the body depending on if it has been cooked and that most people will not have a reaction to olive oil if it is not heated. Knowing that, I still would have used the grape seed oil just because I would not want to experiment at this time during the cleanse.

Close the lid tightly and shake it up baby now!!!

Shake it up really well, it should mix the oil soo well, that it becomes more of a clear mixture.

(Some also use all freshly squeezed lemon juice, I opted for the mixture of grapefruit and lemon for the taste and I was once again concerned about the amount of lemon juice in my stomach, figuring it could make me nauseous).

So by 10pm you should be in your bedroom with nothing else left to do but take the cleanse, and go to bed immediately. You can be 10 minutes off schedule for this if you have to run to the washroom one final time, but try not to be any longer then 10 minutes. On the way back into the bedroom, make sure all doors are locked and your lights are out so you don’t get up doing those last little shut down jobs.

So 10pm-10:10pm, you are now ready to take the oil grapefruit/lemon mixture. You need to drink the whole glass down with as little interruption as possible. It will taste like an oily salad dressing, it’s not the best, but I got it down, and kept it down, so it is possible. It’s not tooo bad, but the oily consistency was a little trying.

Once that is down you will need to lie on your right side immediately for 30 minutes or longer if you can so that the mixture thoroughly goes through the gallbladder and liver and sits there doing its job, which is to overwhelm the gallbladder and liver so much that it purges the blockages and crystals down through your digestive track. Then you can roll to your back and keep your head a bit elevated so the mixture does not come back up.

At one point I started to feel nauseated throughout the night but I kept it down and the feelings passed in about an hour. Your only job now is to get some nice rest no reading, no watching tv, go to sleep. You should sleep the night.

In the morning when you wake 6-6:30am you will need to get someone to get you your next ¾ cup of magnesium citrate/spring water solution. Stay in bed if at all possible. Drink the solution. The solution should now start to help push everything out…downwards, if you know what I mean. If you need to use the washroom, obviously do so, then when you can, return right to bed you are going to be tired. Try to sleep again, I did and I really needed it.

8-8:30am you can now take your last ¾ cup glass of the magnesium citrate/spring water mixture… YaHooooo!!!!

Now all that is left, is going to the washroom for the next 6 hours, lol. You may find a few stones floating on top of the water and or a lot of crystals, crystals usually go to the bottom of the bowl, and if you were cleaned out good prior to the cleanse, it shouldn’t be a yucky bathroom experience just crystals and stones and water, hopefully not much stool, and if soo just a bit in the beginning. Without eating the meats for the few days prior, it shouldn’t be pungenty.

It will be quite a few trips to the washroom, so be prepared to be home for the day, and by 10am-10:30am you can start to eat a little fruit. I started with cantaloupe, because it always makes my stomach feel better, and it is a light fruit to put in your belly when it hasn’t had food in a while. By lunchtime you may feel like you can eat, but only eat small amounts like oatmeal or rice again. Don’t over do it, because you are still passing what is in your gallbladder and liver. Gradually introduce foods over the next 24 hours, similar to what you were doing during your cleanse or you could find you end up with diarrhea. Make sure you replenish fluids…water during this whole procedure is very important. After supper, it’s a good time to get some good vitamins back in and good bacteria. I wouldn’t use dairy for 24 hours, I would just supplement. Take your probiotics but only half the amount on the first night and in the following morning a good Vit B, D and C along with your omega 3 supplement. I found that even on day two, I was still using the washroom somewhat but not as much as the previous day, so that is why in the beginning I caution to take 2 days to recover.

I was really tired after, and I’m glad I supplemented it gave me a little extra energy to get moving again. I’m also glad I took time getting the food back into me in order to rebuild my digestive system again. Remain on your vitamins and probiotics for a good 4 days before you start your dairy, if you are a dairy person. And as soon as your cleanse is done, the first day when you start to eat, you can go back to all your regular meds and supplements at the same time. Don’t stop any prescription meds at alllll during the cleanse, just discontinue the daily vitamins until you can handle them the following day after the cleanse.

Because of all the magnesium citrate that I had taken during the cleanse, it left me on a migraine freee path for almost a week, and I realized maybe I do need to up my magnesium dosage in order to reduce my codeine. I will finish the effects I found from the liver cleanse in the next blog because this one is turning into a novel again. I will do my best in the next week to get a coles notes version done up of the cleanse for you and post it separately without all the info from my experience, so if you talk to your naturotherapist about trying one, you don’t have to go through this lengthy version.

One last thing I will say, is this was the best decision I had made to go ahead with this cleanse, and now that I have it done, I truly think everyone at any age, especially after the age forty, should do this every year or even twice a year just to clear out whatever bad bacteria we have growing inside us before we end up with an illness that we need surgery or chemotherapy for. It all starts from somewhere, and it needs a bad bacteria to start growing from and infest our bodies, so by cleansing our bodies, our organs can efficiently do there jobs once again after the torture we had put them through. It was like being clean again on the inside…A Natural Calm.  I best stop here or I will go on and on for another few pages. I’ll be back in a bit to clue up my finding promise. See you soon.
